IMPLEMENTATION OF EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHM FOR PROFIT
BASED POWER GENERATION USING FACTS DEVICES

Abstract

In this paper, a differential evolution algorithm has been implemented to determine the optimum
solution for scheduling of generator unit with minimum operating cost. The proposed algorithm is
implemented to identify the location of Flexible Alternating Current Transmission systems (FACTS)
devices with regard to less fuel cost and power loss minimization. It is based on steady state power
injection model of UPFC. It has a great flexibility that can control both generating powers and bus
voltage simultaneously. The feasibility of this algorithm has been verified on IEEE 30 bus system
with and without FACTS device.
